Hello everyone!  I am very happy to be in S524 and if the first class was any indication of what is to come we should all have a great time!  I enjoyed the conversations I had in class--you people get (complete) me.  I will go ahead a recap what I said in class; I like non-fiction, fantasy, sci-fi, and classics.  I am currently reading The Gunslinger by Stephen King and an exegesis of St. Augustine's Confessions.  I don't have any animals but I grew up with horses and I love dogs.  Anyway, I am looking forward to a wonderful semester.

Take care,
Daniel

  2. I would love to hear what you think of The Dark Tower series by King. I absolutely adore how he's woven a piece of that series into pretty much every book he's written. It's fun to read his other books and pick out the bits you recognize from the Dark Tower.

  3. I really loved the Dark Tower series. I like to listen to them on audio book. Frank Muller reads some of the series. Stephen King says that Frank Muller could "make the blind see and the lame walk." Frank really does add something special to the stories but sadly he dies due to complications from a motorcycle accident. There are seven books in the series and they are all written (I am shaking my fist at George R. R. Martin and have a frown on my face). Stephen King has always made me fall in love with his characters and The Dark Tower Series is no different. The 1st book is short but the rest are tomes. If you wanted to read a short story about Roland (the hero in the Dark Tower Series) it can be found in a collection called Everything's Eventual. The novella is called The Little Sisters of Eluria and takes place before the beginning of the first book. One more thing and I will shut up; The Dark Tower IV: Wizard and Glass is my favorite and a lot of people feel the same. I believe this one could be read on its own. Anyway, let me know what you think. Thanks for the quesiton!

  4. I loved the series at the beginning -- but sadly, anything past the Wolves of the Calla seemed to go a bit downhill for me. The worst part was, I was somewhat disappointed with how he ended the series. I want to go back through the whole thing again someday, though. I do find any and all things dealing with Roland to be fascinating -- speaking of which: Have you read "The Wind Through The Keyhole" yet? ( http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/12341557-the-wind-through-the-keyhole ) It's on my 'to read' list, but sadly it's another Stephen King book which I have not yet read. So glad to have run into another person who is a Stephen King fan... I always feel like people look at me oddly when I admit I like his books... ;)
